1. overpass query to get hotels within 5 miles of the stretch of interstate between 2 cities 200 mi apart
2. upload that to ()
3. using runs two browsers
a. Hotel Browser is showing umap of hotels
b. Poke Browser is showing
c. very simple script reads the URL from the Hotel Browser, parses the coordinates+zoom and pastes it into the URL of the Pokemon Browser
(There's probably a more general way to do this, possibly even without selenium or python. I picked some where I could just scrape the url bar.)
Then it was just a matter of scrolling around the hotels and seeing if there's pokestops that seem to be within distance. The answer is mostly "no" but we did get a few hits.
Pretty fun and I learned a lot more about overpass queries and selenium.

This should be an easy problem. There are multiple Poke out there. Obviously it's easy to find hotels on other maps.
There's no way to combine them that I can find, at least without getting the Niantic data on the or something.
Niantic themselves use data, but nobody feeds the actual gym locations back in. (The pokemaps are user-updated, but only into their own dbs. Thanks, guys.)
I did find one pokemap that not only uses for display, it has a very similar URL format, which gave me an idea: Use to sync two browsers
As I translate and zoom in (or google maps), send the pokemap to the same view.
I got that running in like 20m.
However, looking for hotels in the "raw" osm interface isn't easy. So now I want an overpass query to get all the hotels in a certain travel corridor and send both browsers to those locations to check it out...
