You need a nice still day for this trip and (as the Maritime Services pointed out) you need to wear a life-jacket. Plenty of spots to stop for a picnic at low tide. At high tide you may have to fork out for the National Parks entry fee.

On a calm day why not pop over and see how the other side lives. You could cruise around the basin, but we chose to go north and see what had been done with Currawong Beach ... the answer is ... nothing. Several run-down cottages in a beautiful location.
