The Kerikeri Open Art Studios Trail {KOAST} is held Labour Weekend {October 20-22} for 3 days of art exploration BY CAR from 10am to 4pm. Meet and talk to the artists in their studios or at group venues. More than 66 artists will participate this year, and there are 32 trail stops. This is our fifth annual KOAST exhibition with a wide variety of art forms and styles to see. Our artists are members of KOAST Inc.and live or work in Kerikeri, New Zealand. We are proud to have 11 guest artists from other NZ regions joining us this year. Bring your friends, explore Kerikeri and have a great time on the trail. We hope you purchase our original art and come every year. This is our first year using a mobile app {which required us to list it as a walk so that we could include stops that are on private roads and make Google maps happy}. We hope it is helpful. 170 A Kerikeri Inlet Road. Two artists will exhibit at this location. Helen Jean, gallery owner and artist, creates oil paintings and sculpture. Helen’s works are contemporary and unique. Lah Herk creates woven hats from native fibres which are elegant living art forms with Tahitian influences. The Seed Gallery is open most of the year.

Three Artists are exhibiting at this venue. Charlotte Scott is a KOASTguest artist creating textile art. Her work depicts narratives of nature in fabric. Judi Soutar is a well known local artist and teacher who works in oil, acrylic, watercolours, and pencil. Judi’s drawings are featured on the trail. Jane Shaw, stoneware ceramics and textile arts. Marine sketches inspire her thrown pots and textiles artwork.

Brenda Moir draws on inspiration from the wonders of our local environment for her paintings. Claire Gordon specializes in low light event photography capturing emotion and creating, she hopes, curiosity. KOAST’s emerging guest artist is Jackson Ansted, whose multi-media works are influenced by the role subcultures play in the contemporary art scene.

52 B Amuri Road. Group Venue with 5 artists including 2 guest artists, Rudy van der Pol and Brad Walters. Rudy van der Pol is a recognized NZ mixed media sculptor making wall art from recycled metal. Brad Walters is a spray paint artist, whose career as an artist had roots in the automotive field. Brad now does commissioned projects including custom kitchen designs and paints on all sorts of supports, refrigerators to canvas. Rolly Monro is a wood and metal sculptor, whose work is well known in NZ. Leigh Munro paints expressive and semi-abstract works born of landforms and creates large steel sculptures. Ann Winship paints sea and landscapes of Northland in oil or watercolour and weaves copper wire sculptures. Her studio is open year round by appointment.
